Domotor Tower

The Tower of Demetrius is the oldest building in the Hungarian city of Szeged. Its foundations were laid during the eleventh century, while the lower part of it was built in the Romanesque style in the twelfth century, and the upper part in the Gothic style in the thirteenth century. In the past, the tower was part of From the former Church of St. Demetrius, but today it stands in the cathedral square in front of the votive church of Szeged. Its upper part was rebuilt from the original stones in 1926, and its architecture resembles that found in the south of France, or in the lands of the former Byzantine Empire.
