East Side Gallery
Berlin's East Side Gallery is the longest stretch of the old Berlin Wall still standing. Often described as a monument to freedom, it displays paintings by artists from around the world. It documents the artwork, which began appearing in 1990, and the time that passed after the fall of the Berlin Wall, as well as expressing hope for the future. Sections of the wall have been moved to facilitate its repair, and other parts have been damaged by erosion and vandalism.
