The Esztergom Castle Museum is housed in the former royal palace, which was built by French architects in the 12th century during Esztergom's golden age. The palace was completely destroyed by the Turks, and the structure today is a mixture of modern stonework and medieval works. Among the highlights of the museum are the Royal Church and its frescoes dating back to the thirteenth century, St. Stephen's Room, the White Tower, and the Gervich Rooms that show the foundations of the castle through the ages. It also includes a permanent exhibition that tells the exciting history of Esztergom Castle using a wide range of pottery, coins, and weapons. and traces of ancient stone columns.
