Et'hem Bey Mosque
The Adham Bey Mosque is located in the center of the Albanian capital, Tirana. Its construction began in 1789 and ended in 1823. It was closed during the authoritarian rule of the Socialist People's Republic of Albania. On January 18, 1991, despite the opposition of the communist authorities, 10,000 people entered the mosque carrying flags. ; This was at the beginning of the fall of communism in Albania. The mosque's frescoes depict trees, waterfalls, and bridges. These lively paintings are rare works of Islamic art, so don't miss the chance to see them.
