Name of the place
Eulenspiegel Fountain
Eulenspiegel Fountain
Created in 1906, the Eulenspiegel Fountain is a symbol of irrepressible acceptance and joy of life; The bakery where the folk tale was told baked real owls and long-tailed monkeys was located right next to the fountain until 1944. The name of the fountain's benefactor, the Jewish banker Meyersfeld, was removed from the memorial plaque during the National Socialist period. It is worth noting that during the heavy bombing on October 15, 1944, the fountain remained unharmed amidst the completely destroyed houses.
