Description of the place
Foya is the highest mountain in the Algarve, with a height of 902 meters. It is located in the Serra de Monchique mountain range. It is widely popular due to the stunning landscapes it offers. On a clear day, you can see from its summit Cape St. Vincent, the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the city of Faro. in the east and Serra da Arrábida near Lisbon in the north, at its base can be found the oldest structure in the region: the ruins of the Convent of Our Lady of Restelo dating back to 1632.
