Fort Canning Park
Imagine a place in Singapore where Malay kings once ruled in the Middle Ages, where the British decided to surrender to the Japanese invaders during World War II, and where some of the biggest music acts in the world played to the crowds. This unexpected set of events occurred on top of a hill in the park of Fort Canning, one of the country's most prominent historical landmarks. Originally known as Bukit Larangan or "Forbidden Hill" in Malay, today the 18-hectare park is filled with attractions ranging from ancient artifacts that attract history buffs, outdoor lawns suitable for concerts and of course green spaces ideal for nature lovers.
