Fort Rinella

fort built in 1878. Not only is this fort a unique relic of Malta's British colonial past, it is also the world's first mechanical fort. The fort was equipped with a new hydraulic system driven by steam. The fort has recently undergone an extensive restoration and improvement process. A new 20-minute audiovisual clip has been added that explains the history of the fort. There are also noon tours each day by 19th century Victorian soldiers. These tours guarantee the re-enactment and living of historical life through the use of military signals, rifles, military cooking, and lots of original historical equipment and weapons and more.
