Fort Saint-André

The majestic Fort Saint-Andre is located on the top of a rocky outcrop that rises 50 meters above the floodplain of the Rhone River. The construction of the fortress began in the twelfth century, and during the thirteenth century with the establishment of the Holy See in Avignon and then the establishment of the Pope in 1356, the site became a real military fortress with a length of 750m with curtain wall, carpets, towers, prison, guardhouse and chapel.
