The Fortress of Rethymno on the Greek island of Crete is a massive fortress, built by the Venetians in the 16th century, captured by the Ottomans in 1646, and by the early 20th century, many houses were built inside. This castle is considered the largest of its kind on the island and in the era of the Venetians, and inside it you can find a church, a hospital and some storage rooms, and at the main gate there is a large exhibition that includes many antiquities and ancient weapons.
