Giardini della rotonda di Padova
The Garden Rotunda is a terraced garden located near the historic center of Padua, behind a wall built in the 16th century and the Rampart of the }at. The name is associated with an episode that occurred during the 1509 siege of the German King Maximilian I during the War of the League of Cambrai. According to legend, a live cat was licked to frighten the enemy with its screams. A dangling cat statue was placed on the outside of the tower facing Codalunga Street in order to commemorate this event, as well as to symbolize the freedom of the people of Padua.
