Haedong Yeongungsa Temple was built in 1376 by the great Buddhist teacher known as Naong during the Goryeo Dynasty. It is located in northeast Busan on a rocky seashore, which makes it unique as most other Buddhist temples are built in the mountains. It has a view of the great Buddha of the sea water, Daeongjeon sanctuary, Yeonggwangdang shrine, Gelup sanctuary, and a three-story pagoda with four lions representing joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, all overlooking the ocean.
