Hagia Sophia Mosque

The Hagia Sophia Mosque is a major landmark in the town of Iznik, as it stood witness to the great historical transformations that took place along the course of the town. Over the years, it turned into a mosque in the Ottoman period, and then into a museum in modern, secular Turkey, where visitors can wander around and see the overlapping of Islamic and Christian architectural elements and religious holdings in its inner and outer courtyards.
