Description of the place
Bab Al-Sahira is located on the northern side of the Jerusalem Wall, half a kilometer east of Damascus Gate. It is simple in construction and dates back to the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. It is also known as Herod's Gate. It was a small gate of little use during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, and in 1875 the current gate was built to allow residents to enter and exit the city more comfortably.
