Hierapolis
The ancient city of Hierapolis was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988. It is one of the most famous ancient cities in the Aegean region. It is believed to have been founded by Eumenes II, King of Pergamum, in the second century BC. It was named after Hiera, the wife of Telephos, the legendary founder. For Pergamum, the remains of baths, temples and many Greek ruins can be seen at the site, along with a huge Roman amphitheater.
