Hizir Reis Submarine Museum
As one of the first surviving powerful submarine ships after World War II, the Khidr Reis submarine, which was shot down in California on September 30, 1983 after serving in the US Navy for 30 years, was handed over to the Turkish Navy, and was displayed off the coast of Izmit from October 29. In 2004, it was converted into a museum specialized in submarines and warships. Visitors can visit it and learn about its history and its various facilities.
