Hongnyeong Forest is located on the southwestern side of the 141-meter-high Cheongjangsan Mountain in the eastern part of Seoul. It houses the royal tomb of Empress Myeongseong, and is characterized by its high historical, cultural and academic value, as it operates as the first and oldest nursery in Korea established to support the study of plants Korea in 1922, and as such, many studies and research projects related to forestry are continuously conducted, while the nursery systematically manages up to 2035 species of trees, plants, and domestic and foreign plant genetic resources.
