It is considered the oldest historical museum in Łódź. Its origins go back to 1959 when the Museum of the History of the Revolutionary Movement was established. The museum at that time collected collections related to the activities of the Polish left-wing movements, with a particular focus on those operating in the Łódź region. The museum contains an important collection of documents, photographs, paintings, sculptures and drawings dating back to the beginning of the twentieth century. It is a place to commemorate the killing of Jews in Łódź and the surrounding area.
