Jameel House of Traditional Arts Jeddah
The Jameel House of Traditional Arts Jeddah opened in 2015 in a traditional house in the heart of Jeddah's Old City as a partnership between Art Jameel and the Prince Charles School. The Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Jeddah is a leading institute for teaching Islamic geometry, design, floral shapes and motifs as well as color coordination and decorative techniques, woodwork, plaster work, sculpture and other traditional crafts within the Old City's rich architectural heritage. Each year around 20 students are taught on a one-year program within a program developed by Prince Charles School, according to the same principles and standards as postgraduate courses at the school's London headquarters. The House participates with the local community through numerous workshops and evening classes for the public, as well as through participation in live festivals that take place in the Old Town. With its privileged location connected to the country's historic buildings and Jeddah's rich and diverse past, the Jameel House of Traditional Arts participates in preserving the Old City, with its unique traditions.
