Juthoor Art Center

Roots Art Center is a historical museum, painting gallery and art school in Heritage Village in Bur Dubai. It is located in the former home of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum, which has been rebuilt and restored as a museum, preserving the original model by incorporating teak wood doors carved with modern floral and geometric designs. Today it is a fine example of traditional Arabic architecture. Inside the center there are exhibits of photos and historical documents, with many wonderful old photos of Dubai from the period between 1948 and 1953, and the marine pavilion of the museum contains pictures of fishing, pearls and boat building, while throughout the building there are many letters, maps, coins and stamps displayed which illustrates the development of the emirate.
