Kazimar Big Mosque

The Kazimar Grand Mosque also known as the Kazimar Periya Paliivasal is the first Islamic mosque established in Madurai. It was founded by Hazrat Kazi Syed Tajuddin, believed to be a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad. Today, the mosque is considered a distinctive religious architectural marvel for the city, with its multiple domes, towering minarets, and spacious courtyards that can accommodate nearly 2,500 worshipers. The mosque includes a cemetery and a mausoleum for important Islamic personalities.
