Freedom Square is one of the most beautiful squares in Georgia, and it symbolizes victory over the Soviet occupation, as it was founded by the Soviets and was initially named after Ivan Paskevich, a Ukrainian general in the Russian Imperial Army. After the Soviets left the country in 1918, it was renamed Freedom Square. At the present time, visitors will find many wonderful shops in the place and luxurious restaurants serving delicious local and European dishes.
