This mosque is the largest and most important mosque in the city of Jaffa, consisting of a complex of buildings arranged around two large courtyards and a third, smaller courtyard. The buildings, gates and courtyard were built in different stages during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries while southern Syria was under Ottoman rule.
