Maiden's Castle
The Maiden's Castle is an ancient castle built on a small island facing the town of the same name in Mersin Province. It is believed to have been used by pirates in ancient times, and to have been built by Alexios I Komnenos during the Byzantine Empire after the Crusade. the first, and was extensively rebuilt in the thirteenth century by Leo I. It was called the "Castle of the Virgin", according to the legend that says that the king's soothsayer had informed him that his daughter would die from a snake bite, so he built a castle far from snakes, and placed his daughter in it in order to protect her from her fate.
