Mausoleum of Struggle and Martyrdom
The Shrine of Struggle and Martyrdom is located in the left wing of the Ministry of Education, which housed the police headquarters and the security apparatus during the occupation. The basement was used as an interrogation prison. Visitors can access and see the collective cells, known as the "tram" , corridors, isolation rooms and the office of the Gestapo Guard. The walls, window frames, and floors are covered with thousands of inscriptions, texts of prayers, meditations on death, initials, names, titles, prison calendars, clocks, crosses, and many other drawings, which in turn form the legacy of those who suffered brutally in this place.
