Mellah

Al-Mallah is the historical Jewish neighborhood in the Moroccan city of Fez, and it has become a refuge for the Jewish community since the fourteenth century. It was originally home to approximately 250,000 Jews, and a few of them remain today. The neighborhood includes many important monuments belonging to the historical heritage of the Jewish community in the city. The most famous of these is the Ibn Danan Synagogue, which is located in the heart of the neighborhood, and tourists constantly flock to the neighborhood to explore its mysteries and famous landmarks.
