Meru Temple

Meru Temple is the largest Hindu temple on the island of Lombok, which gives it great importance to Hindus. The temple is characterized by unique architecture, as it was built in the eighteenth century with the participation of 33 villages in Lombok. The temple is divided into 3 main squares (Nesta Mandala, Madhya Mandala, and Utama Mandal), and each square contains a building consisting of approximately 11 floors. The Utama Mandal is the most sacred place for Hindus in the temple, in addition to being the largest of the three squares, and Hindus come to pray in it. It is required to dress modestly when entering the temple, and it is easily accessible as it is located near the city of Matram.
