Meteora

The Greek word Meteora in Arabic means rocks suspended in the air, and these six monasteries located at the top of a mountainside are the actual embodiment of that meaning, as the monasteries are located on a very steep slope as if they were suspended in the sky. All of these monasteries belong to the Eastern Orthodox Church. It is the second most important grouping of monasteries in Greece. Tourists and locals come to it to delve into the magnificence of these historical buildings, which were included in the UNESCO list of cultural heritage in the year 1988, and they also come to enjoy the majestic views of the neighboring Greek cities and mountains.
