The statue of the poet Dante is located in front of the Church of Santa Corce, which was built in 1865 by the Italian sculptor Enrco Pazzi to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the birth of the great poet Dante, who invented the Italian language. The base of the statue is surrounded by four lions with shields bearing the names of Dante's works.
