Motsameta Monastery

Motsameta Monastery is located 6 km from Kutaisi above the Rioni River. It is also called the Monastery of St. David and Constantine. It is one of the picturesque temples in Georgia, as it is located in a secluded place surrounded by dense forests. Its current church dates back to the eleventh century, but Historical records show that a church was built on this spot as early as the eighth century. The monastery attracts crowds of tourists with an old superstition that if one crawls three times under the arch of the church and makes a wish while touching the Most Holy, the wish will come true.
