Tel al-Gharam, which is also called Matal al-Quneitra, is a dormant volcano located in the northeastern part of the Golan Heights. It is a high hill with a height of 1171 meters above sea level. The hill is considered part of a volcanic mountain range extending along the eastern part of the Golan Heights. The hill witnessed fierce battles between the Syrian and Israeli armies in the October War of 1973, after the Syrians were able to completely liberate it and advance deep into the Golan Heights in the first days of the war. From the overlook it is possible to enjoy majestic panoramic views, and it is possible to tour the trenches that were used in wartime, and enjoy the existing facilities, among which visitors will find a restaurant and a souvenir shop. The hill is also famous for its picturesque nature, as beautiful trees and volcanic stones spread throughout it.
