Museo Cappella Sansevero
Located in the heart of Naples city centre, this archaeological museum traces its origins back to the end of the 16th century, when it was the mausoleum of the de Sangro VII dynasty. The name translates into English as "The Alchemist's Church". Clad in ghostly white marble, with a polychrome marble floor and ornately decorated ceiling frescoes, the venue is stuffed with works by some of the greatest names in the 18th-century Neapolitan art scene. The crypt below the church also contains remnants of alchemists' experiments with dissection of skeletons, and Masonic symbols cover the walls, which you can see while touring the place.
