Museum of Applied Arts

The Museum of Applied Arts, which is abbreviated as "MAK", is a museum of arts and crafts, and focuses in particular on architecture, contemporary art and the development of art through the ages. It was opened in 1989 and has since been the only museum of its kind in North Rhine-Westphalia. Over 800 years of European craftsmanship and 5,000 years of jewellery, the museum provides a time travel through the centuries that gives insight into the rich artistic diversity of styles across different eras.
