Museum of Byzantine Culture
The Museum of Byzantine Culture was opened in 1994 in Thessaloniki, and it is considered one of the most important cultural and educational centers in the city and in Greece in general, as it is concerned with preserving the Byzantine heritage and what is associated with it through different historical periods. The museum specializes in collecting religious Byzantine pieces, icons, paintings, and murals that were present in churches and archaeological sites, preserving them, and displaying them for visitors and researchers interested in the Byzantine period and churches. Some of the finds are from Thessaloniki and the wider Macedonia region.
