National Museum of Archaeology
The museum displays an amazing collection of artifacts dating from the Neolithic period in Malta (5000 BC), up to the Phoenician period (400 BC). The oldest tools used by the people in the prehistoric period to facilitate their daily tasks are displayed, and animal and human figures are represented on the displays. These items not only show the great artistic skills of the early inhabitants of the island but also give us insight into their daily lives. Among the most prominent features displayed in the museum are the "Sleeping Lady", "Venus of Malta", bronze daggers (retrieved from the Tarxian Bronze Age layers), in addition to the necklace of Horus Anubis, and the anthropomorphic sarcophagus that belong to the Phoenician period.
