Description of the place
Located in Kassel overlooking Carslaw Park, the new gallery is home to municipal and state art collections. From landscape paintings of the 19th century Romantic era to masterpieces of German Impressionism and works of contemporary art, the gallery invites visitors to join in an epochal conversation. One of the focus areas of the exhibition is the systematic acquisition of pieces of document art that has been in practice since 1982, using earmarked funds provided by the municipality of Kassel and the state of Hesse.
