Nimrod Fortress National Park
At the top of the green hill, visitors will find the remains of Nimrud Castle, which means the word Nimrud, the land is steep, and this name was given to it because it rises approximately 800 meters above sea level, and is surrounded by deep valleys, and therefore it provides majestic panoramic views of the surrounding lands of the Golan. The history of the castle dates back to the thirteenth century, when it was built specifically in the year 1275, with the aim of guarding the access road to Damascus against the armies coming from the west. So it is surrounded by high walls and has watch towers, and it is beautifully preserved compared to some other historical monuments from that period, so it is considered one of the most beautiful ancient castles existing in the region.
