Àbuda Island, also known as Shipbuilding Island, is the largest island on the Danube River. It was first formed from silt and rocks carried by the river and has been inhabited since 89 BC when it was a base for a legion of ancient Romans. Nowadays, the island is famous all over the world for its festival Island (Sziget) which lasts for a week and has been held there annually since 1993, and during this festival famous musicians from all over the world meet.
