Orrido di Ponte Alto

The Valley de Ponte Alto region is considered one of the most beautiful natural areas in the city of Trento, which has attracted tourists to it greatly since the nineteenth century. It is a picturesque area dotted with a number of limestone caves located on the bank of the Fersina River, surrounded by many picturesque natural features of green spaces, tall trees, huge sedimentary rocks and waterfalls. The area is famous because it carried out the oldest works of "hydraulic" or "fluid dynamics" related to the design of dams, pumps and control of water forces. The first dam was built in the area at a height of 40 meters in order to protect the city from floods in 1500 AD.
