Ostankino Television Tower
The Ostankino Tower is the tallest free-standing building in Europe and ranks eleventh in the world. It was originally a television and radio tower, with a height of about 540.1 meters. It was designed by Nikolai Nikitin between 1967 and 1974. It was built at the time to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the October Revolution, and was named after the Ostankino region surrounding Moscow.
