Panagia Asinou Church
Panagia Asinou Church
very small church, but it is one of the most important UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This church contains some of the finest Byzantine frescoes on the island, which date back to the 12th century AD, and reflect the art of Constantinople of that period. Otherwise, this church was built as a monastery in the year 1099. This church consists of two main parts: the dome with a sloping and arranged roof, which is a later addition belonging to the second half of the twelfth century, and the narthex, which is what was called the waiting area in Byzantine rule period.
