The El Bibila Monument honors the hero who set fire to the gates of the Hondiga on September 28, 1810, enabling Hidalgo's forces to score the independence movement's first victory. The statue shows El Bibila carrying a torch over the city. On its base, there are historical inscriptions. The easiest way to reach this monument is via a funicular. You can also reach the monument through two roads in the city center that lead to picturesque but steep paths.
