Plaça Reial
Plaza Real is one of the busiest areas in Barcelona, especially in the evening. It is characterized by the large fountain that sits in its center, warm lamps and tall palm trees. The square is called the "Royal Square" because it was originally designed to glorify the monarchy. In about 1835, most of the buildings were demolished. In the city, the Capuchin Monastery was located on this square, and after several years a luxurious square was designed in memory of King Ferdinand VII of Spain.
