Description of the place
Porta Nuova is a huge gate to the city of Bergamo that was built in the neoclassical style in 1837. It is considered the main gate to the city, especially on the commercial side. The gate was used as a customs area until 1901, in addition to being used for defensive purposes. Porta Nova means the new gate. The former Iron Gate wicket has been called Porta Nuova.
