Queen's Staircase
Queen's Staircase Odd The Queen's Staircase is a 66-step staircase that was hewn out of solid limestone by more than 600 slaves from the Bahamas in 1793. These slaves were locals who were converted into slavery by the Spanish during the colonization of the Bahamas. The stairs provide a direct route to the historic Fincastle Castle complex. It was named the Queen's Staircase in honor of Britain's Queen Victoria, who visited it at the beginning of her reign.
