Khirbet Qumran is located 15 km south of Jericho, near the western shore of the Dead Sea. This is the site where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were found, which were initially discovered in 1947 by a Palestinian shepherd. The scrolls consist of copies of the Bible and the writings of the Qumran community, including interpretations and sect laws, and the manuscripts of the War of the Sons of Light against the Sons of Light. Darkness, and Damascus Document. The study of these manuscripts has become an academic field known as Qumran Studies, which provides us with valuable information about the history of Judaism and the early stage of Christianity. The Qumran Visitor Center provides an audio show about Qumran, and you can see the aqueducts, cisterns, tanks, tower, kitchen, assembly hall, provisions, pottery workshop, and ovens used by the inhabitants of Qumran.
