The Salt Nature Reserve is a nature reserve in the province of Trapani between the municipalities of Trapani and Bacico on the west coast of Sicily. It was founded in 1995 and within the framework of the Ramsar Convention entrusted to WWF Italy. Its area is 987 hectares, consisting of two zones (Zona A and Zona B). Besides the fascinating Mediterranean flora and fauna, there is a museum of salt work in an old salt factory. This nature reserve is home to many endemic plant species. Halophytes adaptable to salt marshes and soils with high salt concentrations represent some of the rarest plants of Sicily, such as sea marigold (Calendula maritima), Limoniastrum monopetalum, Cynomorium cochineum or Limonium densiflorum.
