Rweiss Grotto
Ruwais Cave is located in the village of Al-Aqoura, and it is one of the largest and most prominent caves in it. The name goes back to the Syriac language and means cold spring of water. Historians acknowledge that one of the oldest monuments in Aqoura is the Ruwais Cave, which is considered one of the largest caves in Lebanon, and is rich in limestone statues and geomorphological features. The cave includes a network of narrow, misleading passages, and a subterranean river flows in the lower layers of it, which is the main reason for the formation of the Ruwais River Valley, which is 3 kilometers long, and represents the most important tributary of the Ibrahim River. Above the winter river flowing from that cave, a natural bridge connects the regions of Aqoura and Majdal.
