Sail Monument

The Al Shiraa Monument in the Bahraini capital, Manama, is of great importance as it embodies the sail and the pearl, which are highly symbolic to Bahrain and its people. The importance of the sail stems from the fact that Bahrainis are a people whose livelihood mainly depends on the sea. Bahrainis used sailing ships in order to reach the areas searching for pearls, which is an invaluable wealth for Bahrain. Therefore, the pearl monument is depicted in the arms of the two sails.
