San Sabino - Bari
The cathedral church of San Sabino is located in Bray, Italy and has important remains of Norman decoration. The construction of this church began after the Byzantine cathedral was destroyed in the eleventh century and was built on the same site by William I of Sicily in 1156. It was completed at the end of the twelfth century. Much of the interior space has been restored to its Apulian Roman appearance, removing the Baroque "modernizations" and rebuilding the beautiful pulpit. Inside the church are the relics of Saint Columba and the relics of other saints. English signs at the site explain the finds, which include an early Christian mosaic floor, a chapel, and an altar. A small section of the original Roman road has also been discovered.
